Spells (Wings #2) by Aprilynne Pike

Goodreads Summary:
Six months have passed since Laurel saved the gateway to the faerie realm of Avalon. Now she must spend her summer there, honing her skills as a Fall faerie. But her human family and friends are still in mortal danger--and the gateway to Avalon is more compromised than ever.

When it comes time to protect those she loves, will she depend on David, her human boyfriend, for help? Or will she turn to Tamani, the electrifying faerie with whom her connection is undeniable?

My Review:

Spells is the 2nd book in the Wings series by Aprilynne Pike. At the beginning of this book Laurel goes to Avalon to spend the summer learning about how to be a Fall fairy.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Laurel is learning about her heritage but does not want to to leave her human life behind. She feels torn between her human boyfriend David and Tam, the faerie boy she knew before leaving Avalon. She's also struggling because her mother can't come to terms with her daughter being a fairy.

I like David but he starts to be annoying in this book. He's jealous of Tam to the point where Laurel doesn't tell him she's going to Avalon for a festival.

At this point Tam isn't much better. He doesn't understand why Laurel once this day in the human world.

I really like reading this series. It's a nice light, fluffy read. I'm looking forward to the 3rd book.
