My Soul to Save (Soul Screamers #2) by Rachel Vincent

Goodreads Summary:
When Kaylee Cavanaugh screams, someone dies.
So when teen pop star Eden croaks onstage and Kaylee doesn't wail, she knows something is dead wrong. She can't cry for someone who has no soul.
The last thing Kaylee needs right now is to be skipping school, breaking her dad's ironclad curfew and putting her too-hot-to-be-real boyfriend's loyalty to the test. But starry-eyed teens are trading their souls: a flickering lifetime of fame and fortune in exchange for eternity in the Netherworld—a consequence they can't possibly understand.

Kaylee can't let that happen, even if trying to save their souls means putting her own at risk…

My Review:

My Soul to Save is the 2nd book in the Soul Screamers series by Rachel Vincent. Kaylee is now aware that she is a bean sidhe and she is learning about her powers from Harmony. At the beginning of this book she is at a concert with Nash when the singer dies. Kaylee doesn't scream so she knows that something is horribly wrong.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Kaylee's life is changed. She's now living with her dad and he's trying to make up for 13 years of being apart. She loves her dad but thinks he's overdoing it. Tod gets her involved in trying to save the soul of his former girlfriend. She knows her dad won't approve so she doesn't tell him what she's doing. She manages to manipulate Harmony into giving her information about the Netherworld to help with this endeavor. One thing that I really like about Kaylee is that she really does want to help others. Her motivations are good even if her methods aren't.

We get to see a lot more of Tod in this book. We find out that before his death he was in love with teen star Addison Page. Addison literally sold her soul to become the star that she is. Todd still loves her and he really wants to save her even if it hurts Kaylee.

One thing that really like about this book is that the teen stars at the Dekker Corporation have all sold their souls to achieve their fame and fortune. They can get their souls back but then everything goes horribly wrong for them. Now when I hear about a former teen star getting arrested or worse I think about that.

I love this series and can’t wait to read more.
